Fly Fishing Cozumel
Fly Fishing Cozumel
Although Cozumel is known specifically as a destination for catching Bonefish it also offers some good Permit fishing opportunities from February -July, Snook during the winter and Tarpon all year round.
With various other species such as jacks, snappers and barracudas to keep it interesting. Most of the fishing takes place north of Isla de la Pasion and the focus is the lagoons of Montecristo, Paso Balem and Rio de la Plata. 90 % of the area fished can be waded, flats boots essential. However the coastline all the way from Punta Norte to Macabi point has some great shallow reefs and sandy flats that Permit and Bonefish frequent. Fly rods of #6 - #10 weight will cover most fishing with a # 9 being a good all rounder. Floating lines and flies such as the Crazy Charlie are stock standards. Tackle list is supplied with confirmation receipt.
